We interview Miss TS Venezuela 2004 representative- Miss Vivienne Robles Lacson winner of Miss TS International (UK) 2004 to get up close and personal and share her thoughts on the pageant.
What enticed you to join the pageant?
Even when I was a little kid, I always wanted to be Miss Universe
but sadly regardless of how beautiful I could become, I would never see the Miss Universe crown on the top of my head so pageants such as Miss TS International best suit the kind of specie that I am today.
I always believed that transexuals in todays' day and age have worked really hard and undergone loads of obstcales, well, aside from cosmetic surgeries, lol, and that they are entitled to something in which they will be given the chance to showcase their individual characteristics, not to mention their beauty, charm, and the special lady deep within. I for one who shares the same sentiments with the rest of the candidates last year and thought of showcasing the beauty, charisma, and the wit of Vivienne Robles Lacson, thus my joining of last years' pageant.
What kind of preparation did you make last year?
I must say last year's bevy of beauties were amazing, a bunch of
beautiful, sexy and intelligent girls of London were in that pageant, after knowing the girls, I immediately narrowed down my positive and negative points in relation to the attributes of the other candidates, developed a strict dietary regime, made sure that the costumes for each category of exposure were properly planned, always hoped for the best and asked for the blessing and guidance of our Lord.
Who did you feel was your tightest competitor and why?
I have always considered each and every girl my toughest competitor. We all had our own beauty, we all had what it takes to be a beauty queen but aside from them I must say the toughest girl to beat was myself as I believe that no one is perfect, and I have always been trying at least to be close to perfection.
How would you best describe your pageant experience?
I consider last years' experience as my toughest and biggest pageant that I have ever joined in my whole life. I have joined several pageants in the past but last year's group of girls was just so strong. I will never forget that particular night when my heart was in my throat, the nerves, and the tears of joy when I was proclaimed the winner, that experience proved to me that, " there's definitely a treasure at the end of the rainbow, just follow the coloured rays, even if they mean hardships, perseverance, doubt of acceptance by society and several visits to your cosmetic surgeon.
How does it feel to win a pageant? Had you entered other beauty pageants before or was this your first time?
The feeling of winning a pageant is just ecstatic. considering my
humble beginning always taunted as someone who looked like a boxer, someone so tall, big boned with big feet. I must say that the titles have helped strenghten my confidence and respect in myself.
I have already joined several pageants in the past, back home, in Kuwait, Miss LYC 2003 also in London, but the Miss TS International crown is my biggest so far.
What are your tips for this year’s candidates?
I'm definite, this years' candidates will be as amazing as last year, but all they have to remember is to be themselves, be humble, no-one is better that the other, each and everyone of them has what it takes to steal the crown from me, lol.
If there was a formula to win what would it be?
Formula? I dont think there is a formula in order to win a pageant. Although physical and mental preparations are necessary, knowing the other candidates' high and low points are essential, but trust in yourself always works best.
Just enjoy the experience, make sure to have fun all through out, and most of all always think that "There's loads of fish in the ocean, but the most desirable and most palatable is YOU".
Muchos gracias! Good luck to all of you girls!
